Frequently asked questions

What is an llms.txt file?

llms.txt is a proposed convention: a Markdown file at the root of your site with a title, a short summary and a curated list of links, intended to help language models understand your site.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is generated entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.

Will llms.txt improve my rankings?

There is no evidence that it does, and major search engines have not said they use it for ranking. It is a low-cost aid for AI tools that choose to read it. Crawler access and structured data matter more.

Where do I put the file?

Upload it to the root of your domain so it is reachable at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt and returns a 200 status. In Next.js, place it in the public folder.
